Virginia Ball Owenby

Virginia Ball Owenby, 86, of Lewisville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2014. A native of Asheville, Mrs. Owenby was born to Bricey and John E. Ball on May 9, 1927. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve Owenby. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Debra Owenby, of Lewisville; grandchildren, Stephanie Mejia (Carlos), of East Bend, NC, and Jason Owenby (Chrissie), of Lewisville; great-granddaughter, Dakota Owenby, of Lewisville; a nephew whom she raised, Thomas L. Bryson (Sandra) of Candler, and their sons, Kenneth Bryson (Teresa) of Fletcher, and Keith Bryson (Dana), of Clemmons, NC. She is also survived by five other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Owenby retired from American Enka after 35 years of service. The family wishes to thank her caregiver, Debra Owenby. A graveside service for Mrs. Owenby will be on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Cecil Robinson officiating. Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Senior Services of Winston-Salem, 2895 Shorefair Drive NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
