Virginia J. Cowan

Mary Virginia “Ginny” Jacobs Cowan, 78, of Teaberry Lane, Weaverville, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005, at a local health care center after a period of declining health. Mrs. Cowan was an Asheville native, the daughter of the late John T. and Alma Smith Jacobs. She graduated from Lee H. Edwards High School and Mars Hill College. She was a member of the Celebration Church of Weaverville. Mrs. Cowan was a homemaker and enjoyed the hobby of growing plants and flowers. She was a licensed real estate broker. She worked with GMAC - MIC, Jackie Kettleson Realty, and most recently with Wick and Greene Jewelers. She was a past president of the Rhododendron Club of Asheville. Ginny will be remembered for her pleasant and captivating smile and her love for her Lord, her family, and her friends. She is survived by her husband Richard E. Cowan of Weaverville; sons Tom and his wife Elaine of Asheville and Doug and his wife Suzanne of Marietta, GA; and one granddaughter Hope Elise Cowan of Asheville. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Dr. Billy Cline and the Rev. Al Harrell will officiate with interment at Green Hills Cemetery.
