William A. Allen

William A. “Bill” Allen, Sr., 82, of Panama City, FL, died Saturday, July 27, 2002. Mr. Allen was a native of Candler and had lived in Florida since 1955. He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He played basketball for the House of David and was the owner/operator of Bill’s Gun Shop in St. Andrews, FL. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Masonic Lodge 212, St. Andrew Men’s Club, and St. Andrew United Methodist Church where he was former chairman of the Board of Trustees and member of the Progressive Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy C. Allen of Panama City; one son, William A. “Bill” Allen, Jr. and his wife Donna of Panama City Beach; one daughter, Judy Brandt and her husband Chuck of Panama City Beach; five grandchildren, Cathy Ditto and her husband Mark of Pensacola, FL, Leigh Ann Brandt of Panama City, Cheryl Joyner and her husband Drexel, and Austin and Dalton Allen, all of Panama City Beach; five great-grandchildren; and one sister Cindy Hollifield and her husband Frank of Asheville. Funeral services were at noon Tuesday, July 30, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Panama City with the Rev. Mac Fulcher officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Emerald Coast, 700 W. 23rd Street, Panama City, FL 32405.
