William "Bill" Hyer

William (Bill) Hyer was born in Rock Hill, SC April 27, 1953 and departed this world April 29, 2022 in Palm Coast, Florida. The family moved back to Asheville when Bill was an infant. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys T. Hyer and his father, William Leslie Hyer, Jr.

He graduated from Enka High School in 1970. Bill had an operatic voice when he was young and a gift for writing. He was also a history buff and a cosmetologist. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He moved to Central Florida in 2000. He was a caretaker for his mother for many years, and at one time voted the male caretaker of the year in Florida. He did not have children, but was a very devoted uncle to his nephews. Bill could have a great sense of humor and loved animals very much.,

Bill is survived by his sister, Linda Bender of Altamonte Springs, Florida and his nephew, Seth Cameron Bender of Denver. He is also survived by two great-nieces.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Fr. John Pagel officiating.
