William Harold Blankenship, 71, of 86 Fraiser Lane, Burnsville, formerly of Asheville, died Sunday, December 21, 2008, at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. Mr. Blankenship was born in Buncombe County and was an Army veteran. He was a retired, self-employed insurance adjuster and he held a private pilot's license. He is survived by his wife, Janice Honeycutt Blankenship; one daughter, Vicki Briggs of Burnsville; two sons, Daniel Glen Blankenship of Asheville and Van Blankenship of Black Mountain; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 2:00 pm. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Dean Honeycutt and Bobby Revis officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

  2. I have known Harold about 40 years in the insurance adjusting business around Asheville. I would run in to Harold at different body shops, see him and Jeane at Claims Association meetings and at the Cracker Barrel. My deepest sympathy to Harold’s family. He was a good man.

  8. I attended school with Harold from elementary to high school. He was also a neighbor. Dennis knew him from the hunting club. We send our condolences and prayers to the family. May GOD bless you at this time of grief.
