Aunt Gladys, Richard, Terry, and Mike, At this time you are all probably at the cemetery waiting for the service to begin, and I am wishing that I could be there with you, but it was not possible. Such wonderful memories of Uncle Harold will always be with me and I am so thankful. It was only a few days ago that I was telling my oldest son John about one of the times we were visiting y’all in Lutz and Uncle Harold took us out for a boat ride. It had been raining and there was a little water in the back of the boat. We were out of the canal into the big lake and Uncle Harold asked my Daddy to pull the back plug out of the boat so when he sped up the water would be sucked out of the boat. Instead of pulling the plug out my Daddy pushed it out and the plug went to the bottom of the lake, so we were out in the middle of the lake with no plug for the boat. Uncle Harold never panicked, he just maintained a pretty fast speed toward the canal. We didn’t take on too much water, just a little over ankle deep by the time we got to the back of your house and we all had one big laugh when we got out of the boat. And there are so many good memories. Uncle Harold always had so much interest in our three sons, John, Daniel, and David, and during our phone conversations he always wanted me to tell him about each one and what was going on with them. I know you all will miss him so much, but isn’t it so wonderful to know you had him as your father. I’m so proud to be able to say he was my Uncle and I loved him very much, as we all did. I decided not to tell my Mother about his death. She is not doing well and I’m afraid it might make things worse. Our love and prayers to all of you and hope to see you soon, Tommy
