William J. 'Bill' Baley

September 9, 1915 ~ September 20, 1999
Mr. Baley was born in Marshall but had lived in Asheville for most of his adult life. He was a son of the late James M. and Mary Katherine Redmond Baley. He was an Army veteran of WW II serving four years in the European Campaign during which he earned five bronze service stars and a good conduct medal. He was a
deacon and longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, Asheville.
Mr. Baley was a graduate of
Asheville High School, Mars Hill College, Cecil’s Business College, and worked 30 years in the US Postal Service from which he was retired.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annie Laurie Reynolds Baley; a brother, James M. Baley, Jr.
of Asheville; nephew, James M. Baley, III and his wife, Marilyn of Asheville; niece Kathy Baley Atkinson and her husband Tyrus Atkinson of
Atlanta, GA; nephew Kenneth C. Reynolds and his wife Stephanie of Round Hill, VA; and niece Sandra Reynolds Suttles and her husband Martin of Mills River.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Baley Starnes in 1980.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Thursday, September 23, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
His family will receive
friends from 2 - 3 pm Thursday at the church.
