William Porter Gentry

William Porter Gentry, Jr., 84, of 25 Ben’s Cove Road, Candler, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at his home. Mr. Gentry was born in Haywood County and was a son of the late William P. Gentry, Sr. and Cartie Alice Gunter Gentry. He worked with the Buncombe County School System Surviving are his wife, Lucille Gentry; one daughter, Alice A. Hunter and her husband, Douglas, of Candler; three sisters, Emma Frances, Ruth Morris and Carrie Burnette; three brothers, Samuel, Bobby and George Gentry; two grandsons, William and Timothy Hunter; and two great-granddaughters, Autumn and Lauren Hunter. Graveside services will be on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Buchanan Cemetery in Haywood Co. with the Rev. Austin Watts officiating. His family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting with the arrangements.
