William Swayngim, 86, of 45 Watson Road, Swannanoa, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Memorial Mission Hospital. Mr. Swayngim was born in Transylvania County and was a son of the late William and Loree Swayngim. He was also preceded in death by three brothers Charlie, Jack and Earl Swayngim, a sister Gladys Reed, and a granddaughter, Debbie Swayngim, who died September 11, 1965. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was a retired building contractor. He was a member of the Swannanoa Church of God. Surviving are his wife, Mary Etta Stanley Swayngim; a son, Robert Swayngim and his wife Betty of Asheville; two daughters, Ann Reece and her husband Vance of Swannanoa and Betty Cutshall and her husband Rankin of Arden; a sister, Gertrude Swayngim; two brothers, Carroll Swayngim of Arden and Bobby Swayngim of California; seven grandchildren Tammy, Jeff, Brian and Chad Swayngim, Brittany and Beth Cutshall and Todd Dorsey; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Stoy Lankford, Aaron Phillips, Al Riggs and Bob Swayngim officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.

    You have been missed so very much. I know that Mama is happy now,she’s with you and Jesus. It’s where she wanted to be. The girls and I and Rankin really miss you alot and think of you daily.   2. We will truly miss Mr. Bill. He was a great friend to my daughter and me. I will always look for him at our meeting place, Burger King. May God Bless his family at this time.
