Wilma Lawson Johnson, 86, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Givens Healthcare Center. A native of Hot Springs, NC, she was daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Jesse Miller Lawson. Wilma was also preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Martin Johnson who died in 2007. She worked as a bank teller for Northwestern Bank in Fletcher for a number of years. Wilma was an actively involved member of Arden Presbyterian Church. Wilma is survived by two daughters, Amy Johnson McGrath of Cleveland, TN and Lisa Johnson Ballance of Greenville, NC and by one son, Nelson Clark Johnson of Princeton, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Celebration of Life service for Wilma will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the main sanctuary of Arden Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Ken Crabb officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Arden Presbyterian Church, 2215 Hendersonville Rd, Arden, NC 28704. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

    Wilma has left a big bright light behind, as shedid every day of her life. Her smile and optimism was something I could always count on whenever I saw her. I never heard her complain about anything. Oh, what an inspiration she was to me! She will be missed down here, but I look forward to seeing her smile again, someday.
