Winnie Fowler Caldwell, 93, of Leicester, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2025.
She was born in Spring Creek, NC, on July 25, 1932, to the late Otis and Mildred Riddle Fowler. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Troy Caldwell; her nine siblings; and great-granddaughter, Ellie Mae Phillips.
Mrs. Caldwell loved quilting, canning and cooking. In later years, she enjoyed solving puzzles and playing games on her iPad, which she also used to stay in touch with and check on her many loved family members. Her faith was also important to her, and she was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Donnie Caldwell (Brenda); daughters, Judy Roberts (Roy), Sharon Bussard (Edward) and Tracy Simerson (Jeffery); grandchildren, Regina Kilgore (Reginald), Bonnie Tronzo (Jeffrey), and Mallory Phillips (Jayse), Connor Caldwell McElroy and Riki Symonds; great-grandchildren Brycen, Ava, Devyn, Anthony, Kayden, Crosby, Greyson, Aryia, and Elsie; special niece, Nina; and Winnie’s friend, Eugene.
The family will celebrate Winnie’s life beginning with the receiving of friends at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastor David Jones will officiate. Burial will then follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
