Lucille Garrison Wilson, 81, of Fletcher, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at her home, following a brave fight with ovarian cancer.

She was an elementary school teacher in both the Burlington and Newton-Conover City Schools. She also taught in Statesville, Lenoir, Henderson County and Buncombe County Schools. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s sorority.

In retirement, Lucille worked for 20 years at the Biltmore House as a host and tour leader. For nine of those years, she was a speaker’s bureau member, giving programs about Biltmore across Western North Carolina. She enjoyed history, antiques, crafts and nature.

Born April 11, 1937 in Alamance County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Walter Holt Garrison and Marie McCulloch Garrison. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sara Jo Kruchten and brother, Walter Norman Garrison.

Lucille is survived by her beloved husband and devoted caregiver of 47 years, John Donald “Don” Wilson; her cherished daughter Dr. Donna Lucille Earley, son-in-law Lee, and her awesome and dearly loved grandson, Alden of Atlanta; dear brother and sister-in-law, John R. Garrison and Kathy; sister-in-law, Barbara Garrison of Burlington, NC; nieces, Norma Marrin (Bernard) of Glen Allen, VA and Susan Harris (Shannon) of Burlington, NC; nephews, Rodney Garrison (Andrea) and Mark Garrison, of Burlington, NC; great-nieces, Sara Marrin, Barbara Ciccone (Jon), Mara and Cate Harris and great-nephew, Hayden Garrison (Kinsley).
