Mae Caldwell Justice, 80, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the CarePartners Solace Center.
A native of Madison Co., Mae resided in Buncombe Co. for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Richard and Forie Payne Caldwell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rev. Robert Justice, Jr., who died in 2007; sons, Mike Justice and Wayne Warren; sisters, Eadie Parks, Lillian Turner and Ella Mann; and brothers, Andy, Hubert, and James Caldwell.
Mrs. Justice was a retired dairy farmer, homemaker, mom, and grandmother. She loved to cook, clean, garden and tend to her flowers. She was a foster parent for over 40 years for Buncombe Co. DSS, opening her home to over 100 children.
Mrs. Justice is survived by her daughters, Linda Webb (Jim) and Charlene Monroe; sons, Randy Justice (Cathy) and John Justice; foster sons, Gary Parham and R.D. Chandler; sister, Mildred Morrow; sister-in-law, Hilda Caldwell; grandchildren, Daniel Justice, Katie King (Michael), Jennifer Surrett (Josh), Robin Valladares (Jose), Tammy G. Cutshaw, Brandon Justice, Sasha Justice, Sarah Parham, Victoria Warren, Julyette Justice and Homer Justice; nine great-grandchildren; special friends, Bill Clark and C.D. and Judy Grindstaff; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Justice will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. The Revs. Gene Turner, Bub Clark, and Roger Justice will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Jimmy Clark, Chris Clark, Jim Webb, Paul Decoteau, Weston Justice, Michael King, Justin Freeman, and Nick Hyatt will serve as pallbearers. Josh Surrett, Frank West and Bill Clark will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
