Roy Lee Morrison, III, "Butch," of Candler, NC, passed from life and into heaven on September 30, 2018. He is predeceased by his parents Roy Lee Morrison, Jr., and Julia Smith Morrison, and by his younger brother, Samuel Kenneth Morrison.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue Reeves Morrison; their children, Brian Lee Morrison (Christi), of Palm Harbor, FL, and Brooke Morrison Swartz (Peter), of Matthews, NC; four grandchildren, Ava Morrison, of Palm Harbor, FL, and Amelia, Lila and Beckett Swartz, all of Matthews, NC; and one sister, Clara Morrison Leonard (Andrew), of Cornelius, NC.
Butch was a member of the 1967 graduating class of TC Roberson High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Korean DMZ where he was exposed to Agent Orange. He was also a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, was a member of the Patriot Guard, a volunteer at the VAMC, and participated in many charitable events. He retired from a career in industrial tool sales after 30 years of service.
Butch was a passionate entertainer. His love of composing and performing music was an extremely important part of his life. He was a member of several bands and recorded music in Nashville. He wrote and sang original music for the weddings of both of his children and close family friends.
Butch answered to many names; "Mr. Fix It," mentor, devoted grandfather (Bo/Pap) and family man. He had a selfless love for the less fortunate and would give his undivided attention freely to any task at hand. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dr. Michael McFarland will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
