Sally Anna Tandy, beloved sister, aunt, babysitter, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of February 12, 2018.
Born on May 5, 1936, Sally was the daughter of the late Ruth Reynolds and Oscar Garrott Tandy.
Sally lived all her life in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She graduated from Valley Springs High School, and went on to take courses at the Plonk School of Creative Arts in Asheville. Sally had a great love for children, and she will be warmly remembered for the wonderful childcare she provided in so many households. Sally was also an excellent cook and shared her creative talent through handmade gifts to family and friends, always signed with “Lots of Love”.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; by her eldest sister, Jean Tandy Cook, of Lynchburg, VA; and by her youngest sister, Mary Elizabeth Tandy Gropp, of Bronx, NY. She is survived by one other sister, Margaret Tandy Gatling, of Chapel Hill, N.C. She is also survived by many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Sally’s family would like to express sincere thanks to the many friends and neighbors who offered care and support to her in so many ways throughout the years.
A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:30 am at Green Hills Cemetery, 25 New Leicester Highway, in Asheville.
