Candler - Harold Richard Elingburg, 85, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017.
Richard was born in Henderson County, son of the late Louis T. and Edith Dalton Elingburg and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Cecil, Lee, Jim, Raymond, Don and Ken Elingburg. He was a member of Hominy Baptist Church, the VFW and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a military and genealogy buff, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired employee of American Enka/Akzo Noble, with 40 years service.
Richard is survived by his wife, Iva Lee Elingburg; three children, Karen Morgan (Dennis), Lana Elingburg and Harold Richard Elingburg, Jr., all of Candler; two grandchildren, Devan Elingburg and Jon Morgan; and one sister, Mary Ann Elingburg Bagwell (Bob) of Arden. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Elingburg of Concord, NC and his dog, Angel.
The family would like to thank Pisgah Manor Nursing home, CarePartners Palliative Care, and CarePartners Hospice for their loving care of Richard.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Hominy Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton, the Rev. Dr. Paul Raybon and Rev. Melissa Hughes. Military Honors will be provided at the church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the church on Tuesday.
