Herman James Gasperson, 93, of Asheville, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Aston Park Health Care Center.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Frank and Dovie Baker Gasperson. He was also preceded in death by one infant brother, Paul Lewis Gasperson.
Herman was a proud Veteran of the US Army, having served in WWII. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He went on to work for and retire from Gasperson Transfer, Inc. He was a longtime and very active member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Herman is survived by two brothers, Rex Gasperson and Roy Gasperson; one niece, Mary Green (Don); two nephews, Ray Gasperson (Susan) and Bruce Gasperson (Sheila), as well as many great-nieces and nephews who he was very close to.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 7 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Interment will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home.
