Anne Gault Gettys passed away June 24, 2018. Since 2012 she had resided at Arbor Terrace in Asheville.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Harper S. and Ellen Murray Gault, by her husband of 54 years, Robert A. Gettys, Jr. and by her sister, Willette Gault Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Gettys Hill and Beth’s husband Ted of Asheville, by her son, Stephen D. Gettys and his wife Theresa of Bradenton, FL and by her grandson, Robert N. Gettys and his wife Amanda of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Anne was born in 1929 in Rock Hill, SC, received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Winthrop College and her master’s degree in counseling from Western Carolina University. Most of her career was spent in guidance counseling in Asheville City Schools and she was active then and in retirement in community volunteering and church-related charities. She was an ardent Clemson football fan and loved entertaining family and friends and traveling with her late husband and family.
The family wishes to thank her private caregivers, Kim Buckner and Dana Little, and the staffs of Four Seasons Hospice and Arbor Terrace, especially Ken Martin, for the professional and loving care they provided Anne for the last years and days of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church (Fletcher), The Salvation Army of Asheville and Four Seasons Hospice Foundation.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Calvary Episcopal Church. Burial will be private.
