Billie J. (Borders) White, 88, of Arden, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 in her residence.
Born in Kings Mountain, NC, she was the wife of the late Dr. James Clyde White, Jr., and the daughter of the late William Irvin and Macie Viola (Hullender) Borders. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Fannie Sue Stacey.
During her career, Billie worked in various hospitals in nursing positions, including Broughton Hospital in Morganton where she was a psychiatric nurse, and at the O’Berry Center in Goldsboro where she worked as an RN for 10 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Mills River Presbyterian Church, Mills River.
Billie was a talented artist who loved to draw and paint. She loved animals and flowers, and adored spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Jim White and his husband Chuck Moore of Arden; a daughter, Ellen J. White of Asheville; 3 grandchildren: Sarah Alverson (Drew), Rachel and Ben White; 2 great-grandchildren: Ashlyn Webb and Mason Alverson; a brother, Dennis Borders of Spartanburg; 2 sisters: Patsy Tingley (Al) of Blacksburg, SC and Frances Faulkenberry (Ken) of Simpsonville, SC, and her beloved cat, Sammie.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC.
