Joan Kalman Kasper, 76, passed away at Mission Hospital in Asheville on November 2, 2018. Joan was born in Quincy, Illinois, and raised in Norman, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she majored in mathematics. She would go on to become one of the early computer programmers in the 1970’s.
She will be remembered for her strong and loving spirit. Joan loved spending time with her family and friends, dogs, walks around the neighborhood lake, travel, and art, as evidenced by the beautiful quilts and hot-pads she created.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Kasper, twin sister, Julie Brown, two older sisters, Jackie Poe and Teresa Brown, her three sons, Jake, Brett, and Greg Player, and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on December 1 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road in Arden, NC, followed by a reception at 12:00 pm at Biltmore Lake Club House, 80 Lake Dr., Biltmore Lake, NC.
