William Alexander "Bill" Freeman, 92, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
A native and lifelong resident of Fairview, Bill was a son of the late Flavius Iowa Freeman and Annie Mae Graham Freeman. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Dwight, Cortez and Babe.
Mr. Freeman was an avid hiker. He enjoyed spending time on the Appalachian Trail and was a member of various hiking clubs. He enjoyed attending car shows and successfully restored a 1934 Hudson Terraplane. Mr. Freeman also greatly appreciated his church community as a lifelong member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Ailene Moore Freeman; daughters, Diane Freeman and Debra Marshall (Patrick); grandson, Kyle Smith; and sister, Joyce.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at a later date.
Mr. Freeman's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Flesher's of Fairview and to Dr. Robert Steward of Asheville Family Health Center for the excellent care and compassion they showed to Bill.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
