CLAUDE F. HOLCOMBE
CANDLER – Claude F. Holcombe, 82, died Monday, December 20, 2010.
Mr. Holcombe was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Reginald and Lillian Felmet Holcombe. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha McCain and a brother, Henry Edward Holcombe.
Mr. Holcombe was a retired chemist with American Enka. He was a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday school for more than 40 years. He was a 59-year member of the Hominy Lodge #491, A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Jane Wix Holcombe; two daughters, Beverly Holcombe and husband Fred Glaesner, Jr., of Durham, and Patricia Delizza and husband, Buddy, of Concord; three grandchildren, Julie, Katie and Dominic Delizza; one sister, Catherine Palmer of Lenior, and one brother Reginald Holcombe, Jr of Candler.
A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The Hominy Lodge will conduct the rites. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
