Marvin Stanley Kelman, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at his home. He was born in Haverstraw, NY, on August 12, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Kelman, and sisters, Annette Present and Porge Sydney. He was a loving father and husband. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Peggy; son, William Kelman and wife Nadia; daughter, Mary Beth Dubinsky; four grandchildren, Olivia and Madeline Kelman, and Joshua and Alexandra Dubinsky; cousin, Elaine Deutch; brother-in-law, Tom Johnston and wife Pat; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Benton and husband Bruce, and Sandy Sheldon; nieces, Laura Benton and Emily Sheldon; nephew, Tommy Benton; special friends, Judy and Ken Watmough; and beloved "boys," Joey and Charlie. Mr. Kelman was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He attended the University of Miami, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He loved jazz, gardening, and his daily walks with Joey and Charlie in the neighborhood. A memorial service for Mr. Kelman is planned for the spring. His family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 6, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at their home, 24 Pine Spring Drive, Asheville. Peggy wishes to thank Mahec Family Health and her "family" at Mahec OB/GYN for their love and prayers. The family also gives special thanks to CarePartners Hospice. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd. is assisting the family.
