Sharon McPeters Owens, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 8, 2012.
The funeral for Sharon of Charleston, S.C. will be held Tuesday, May 15th at Groce Funeral Home in Asheville (Patton Avenue location), N.C. at 11:00 a.m. with inurnment service immediately following at Green Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, May 14th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sharon retired from AT&T as a customer service manager in 2010 after 40 years of service.
She was born in Asheville, N.C. on August 27, 1951 to Gay McPeters and Juanita Baily McPeters. Sharon was a Graduate of Erwin High School, Class of 1969.
She is survived by her husband, Sam T. Owens III of Charleston, S.C.; three sons, Joel M. Godleski, Jonathan B, Godleski and Nathan J, Godleski (Nicole Wingard) and grandson, Damien J. Godleski; one sister, Gail Jones and husband, Jerry Jones; niece, Tara Jones Clark; and nephews, Greg Jones and Barry Jones, all of Leicester, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF 1411 K St, NW #500 Washington, DC 20005).

We were so very sorry to hear about Sharon but we know she is so much better off. She is in Heaven not only with the Lord but both of your precious parents. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

We are so sorry for your loss. Having known Sharon since we were in elementary school and church, it feels like we have lost a sister. Spent lots of time in each other’s home and at recreational events. Her children grew up here also and we shared those moments. To Gail,Jerry,Sam & family, our hearts are burdened for your loss and pain. She truly fought a good fight and will be remembered fondly forever. Love to all

I’m so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of growing up and playing with Melinda and Sharon. She never treated me as the unwanted little sister.. And years later keeping first Joel and then the twins. She will truly be missed and I can only say to the family that my prayers are with you.
