Eva Teague Prestwood, 83, of 263 Hogeye Road, Leicester, departed this life and went to be with her husband and her Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at St. Joseph Campus, Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Fred C. and Nellie Jones Teague. She was married for 57 years to Hurley R. Prestwood, who died in 2004. She was a member of Big Sandy United Methodist Church and the choir and a member of the Leicester VFD Auxiliary. Surviving are one daughter, Linda P. Nesbit and husband, John, of Asheville; two sons, Terry J. Prestwood and Virginia Robinson, and Ronald D. Prestwood and his wife, Mary, all of Leicester; seven grandchildren, Brian, Jason, David, Brandon, Jamie, Nicholas, and Zachary; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Bradley; a great-granddaughter, Trey; two sisters, Reva N. Sawyer and husband, Jack, and Wilma Jean Chambers and husband, Robert, two brothers, J. Leonard Teague and wife, Susan, and Denver L. Teague and wife Mabel; and an aunt, Maude Robinson. Funeral services will be at 2:00p.m. Monday at Big Sandy United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Fred Sibley and Ricky Townsend officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorials may be made to the Leicester VFD, PO Box 100, Leicester, NC 28748, or to Big Sandy United Methodist Church, c/o Tracy Shook, 164 Willow Creek Road, Leicester, NC 28748.

    I am so sorry to hear about Eva. Rex, Vicki, Chad, and I were on vacation and just heard about her death this morning. I’m also sorry that I was not able to attend her services, but I wanted to let you know that you are in my prayers and I love each of your very much. What a treasure you all have always been in my life from as far back as I can remember. May each of you sense God’s presence during this most difficult time.
