Edith Boyd McConnell, 90, of 24 Apogee Drive, Asheville, died Saturday, August 18, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. McConnell was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Burgin and Mamie Benson Boyd. She was married to Dexter W. McConnell, who died in 1992.
She was devoted to her family and is survived by three daughters, Shelba Jean Frisbee and husband, Ervin, of Asheville, Alice Bradford and husband, Bruce, of Candler, and Carol Farmer of Asheville; two sons, Melvin McConnell and wife, Alice, and Ricky McConnell and wife, Pennie, all of Asheville; a sister, Mildred Warren of Asheville; eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Keyler officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. It is never easy when you lose a loved one. Moms are always the hardest.
