Josephine Hamilton Trexler, 83, passed away Friday, March 19, 2004, at the Hospice Solace Center after battling lung cancer for the past six months. Mrs. Trexler was born November 23, 2020, in Greenville, SC, the only child of Earle P. and Eulalia Evans Bostick Hamilton. She was a member of the 1938 class of Lee H. Edwards High School and attended Blanton’s Business College. She began her career with the phone company as a switchboard operator before retiring from Southern Bell as a storeroom clerk. She married Howard Edwin Trexler October 1, 1954 and he preceded her in death May 1, 1999. Surviving are one daughter, Ruth Trexler Head and her husband Ivan of Asheville; a grandson Adam Head, a granddaughter Amber Suttles and her husband Jeff, and three great-grandchildren, Amanda Wilson, Kristen Suttles and Mason Suttles. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Mr. Don Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
