Anne Wells Taylor, 83, of the Cimarron community, died Friday, February 15, 2013. Born Betsy Anne Wells, in Bethel, NC, Mrs. Taylor was raised by her loving parents, Thomas H. Wells and Beulah Pless Wells and many Wells relatives in the Pigeon River Valley. After graduation from Bethel High School, she moved to Clemson, SC, where she met Calvin Taylor, from Mauldin, SC, who had just returned from Naval service in the South Pacific. Anne and Calvin were married on August 12, 1950 at Anne's childhood home in Bethel, and were married for 55 years, until Calvin's death in 2006. They had two children, Anna Lisa Taylor and Thomas Calvin Taylor. Anne Taylor enjoyed life, loved poetry and in particular, revered Thomas Wolfe. After her retirement to Asheville, she was a docent at the Thomas Wolfe House in Asheville and in her last days, found much peace in his poetry and writings. She was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church and actively supported the Asheville Humane Society. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughter, Anna Lisa Taylor of Dacula, GA; her son, Thomas Calvin Taylor and his wife, Donna, of Hilton Head Island, SC and their children, Thomas Matthew Taylor of West Perth, Australia, Cameron Holman Taylor of Portland, OR, Caroline (Anne) Taylor Karyshyn and her husband, Jarrett, of Goose Creek, SC and Evan Blake Chupurdy of Hyde Park, NY. In addition, she is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Lynn Wells and Mary Ann Wells, of Fletcher, NC and their children, Shari Brown and Rebecca Teseneer. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Biltmore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ernest A. (Sonny) Reavis officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery.
