Dorsey Creasman Waddell, 71, of Whataview Dr., Candler, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, where she joined "Poppy" at the gates of Heaven. Mrs. Waddell is survived by her loving family: son, Kenneth Ray Waddell, Jr. and wife Selene; daughters, Lisa Waddell-Guy and husband Chris, and Carol Brookshire and husband Tom (T-Bone); grandchildren Dakota Waddell, Briannah Goodson and husband Justin, Morgan Brookshire, and Sarah Brookshire; brothers Tony Creasman of Candler and Harold Rhoden of FL; mother, "Little Mom" Frances Creasman of Candler; and several half brothers and sisters, and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Waddell, Sr., and by her father, D.O. Creasman. Dorsey was very proud of her many years of volunteering with CarePartners and Hospice organizations. She was an amazing artist who volunteered her talents to local schools and churches. She was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church and loved the many hours she spent with her church family. A graveside service for Mrs. Waddell will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Houston officiating. Her family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave., and at other times at the home of Mrs. Waddell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations be made to the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Many thanks to all the friends and family who visited. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten by all who knew her.

  1. What an awesome example of a Godly Woman. Aunt Dorsey was one of the sweetest women we have known. She always had a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed. We know she is rejoicing in heaven with Ken and her daddy wishing we could all be there to celebrate with them in the presence of Jesus. We love you all and are praying for you daily! Please let us know if there is anything you need!

    Love,
    The Buckners

  2. Having known Dorsey since she was a little girl with beautiful brown eyes. I always felt she was my cousin and I adored her dad David. She is indeed with the Lord, her dad and husband who adored her as everyone who met her.

  3. A dearer friend could not be had. Many miles and many smiles together. nine years at CarePartners together. Painting murals on school walls together. Oil Painting classes together. I could go on and on. Camp Caswell was one of her favorite trips. I love her and will miss her greatly. Hard to find true friends. She was just that. A wonderful Christian example to her family. I have a hole in my heart, but God will reunite us again someday. God speed Dorsey. Give Bill a hug for me.

  4. The family will be in our thoughts and prayers. We loved Dorsey very much and will miss her greatly.
