Larry James Cook, 61, of Leicester, died on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at his residence following a long illness.
A native of Waynesville, Mr. Cook was a son of the late Tom and Irene Surrett Cook.
Mr. Cook owned and operated a successful grading company, Cook's Grading, from 1976 until 2009. Mr. Cook loved to fish and hunt, especially with his best friend, Larry Angel. Mr. Cook never knew a stranger and was a friend to everybody. He is loved by his family and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Maxine Angel Cook; son and daughter-in-law, Larry Cook, Jr., and Tina; brothers-in-law, Larry Angel (Barbara), and Doug Angel (Joyce); and special friends, Tim King, Bob Buzzerd, Keith Teague, and Terry Prestwood.
A funeral service for Mr. Cook will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
His family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
