Dee Wilson Scavio, 71, of 104 Carrington Place, Arden, passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Poplar Bluff, MO, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Bernice Tison Wilson and wife of the late Joseph Walter Scavio, who passed away in 2011. Dee was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Dee was the devoted mother of Machelle Scavio, Joseph Scavio and Trent Scavio, all of Asheville; and is also survived by her cherished granddaughter, Breea Anderson and seven siblings, Charlene Hill, Mary Baker, Teresa Wilson, Paul Wilson, Floyd Wilson and Elvis Tison, all of Missouri and David Wilson of Minnesota. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the John F. Keever Solace Center for the excellent care and compassion extended to Dee during her time there. A memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by the Rev. Adrian Porras at 1:00 PM Friday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorials may be made directly to the family. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  1. Dee was a very nice lady and always had a smile on her face. She was so loved by all her co-workers at Kmart. We was a family and treated one another as family. I’m so glad to have known Dee and able to spend some time with her. Love you Dee and will you will always be in my heart.

  3. To the family of Delores Scavio, I am sorry for your loss. The death of a loved one leaves us devastated. We are never quite prepared for losing someone. We can gain comfort from our Heavenly Father (2Corinthians 1:-2-4). His word holds out such wonderful hope for our departed loved ones,( John 5:28,29 and Acts :15). I hope that the love of your family and friends will help you through this difficult time.
