Grace Rogers Sluder

Grace Rogers Sluder, 94, of Candler, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Ledford Eugene and Bertha Mae Taylor Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garland Sluder, and by sons Garland Roger Sluder and Walter Eugene Sluder. Mrs. Sluder was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Red Cross, with over 9000+ volunteer hours. Mrs. Sluder is survived by her son, William Sluder and wife Suzanne of Alexander; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver JoAnn Sluder. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Veranita Alvord officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
