Ellen Johnston Roberts, 73, of Leicester, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. A native of Walnut, NC, Mrs. Roberts was a daughter of the late David and Edith Cantrell Johnston. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Houghteling, and brothers, Frank and Billy Johnston. Mrs. Roberts loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved to go to Atlanta Braves games and go bowling as often as she could. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband, Harold Roberts; daughter, Teresa Troutman; grandsons, Aaron and Adam Troutman; great-grandson, Sawyer Troutman; and sister, Hazel Anderson. A funeral service for Mrs. Roberts will be on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Chase officiating. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

    There will be hugs and tears and lot of pictures. stories that make us laugh, but most of all there will be our memories that we hold in our hearts. Ellen & I played basketball together during our Walunt High School days, she was a Joy.

John 5:28,29 tells us that the dead will hear the voice of Jesus & come out they will return to a world where death, sickness, sorrow & pain will be no more.. These promises we can trust because the God of comfort made these promises & he cannot lie. I hope you & your family find these scriptures comforting
