James Kenneth Nixon, 64, of 39 Edwards Street, Asheville, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Nixon was a native of Guilford County and was a son of the late John and Alice Brookbank Nixon. He was a former member of the National Guard and was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. He worked in motel property management.
Surviving are his wife, Margie Lassiter Nixon; three daughters, Brenda Pruitt of Greensboro, Patricia Boncore of Charlotte, and Joanie Johnson of Alabama; one son, Eddie Nixon of Asheville; one step-daughter, Faye Egan of Lakeland, FL; two step-sons, Gerald Locklear of Asheville and Michael Locklear of Spruce Pine; a sister Mable Klutz of Greensboro; a brother John Nixon of Asheville; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Ed Robinson and Russell Hillard officiating.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Floral arrangements suitable for the home will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Clear Branch Baptist Church.
Ms. Nixon and family I am sorry for your loss. As you know it has just been a few short months since I lost my mom…just know that God can help you through it and that is the only way. The pain will ease. May God keep you all safe and encouraged in His loving arms.
