Arthur William Ballew

Arthur William Ballew, 83, of Candler, died Friday, April 18, 2014, at the Laurels of Greentree Ridge. A native of Madison Co., he was a son of the late Henry and Elsie Aldridge Ballew. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Ruth Hunter Ballew. Mr. Ballew was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during WWII. He worked for Gerber, and as a truck driver. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Ballew is survived by a son, William M. Ballew of Candler; grandson Michael William Evers of California; sister Dorothy Stanley of Asheville; and brother Carl Ballew of Washington State. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Revs. Mark Bullman and Johnny Raines officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
