Emily Hipps Autry, 94, beloved mother of Sandra, Patsy and Nancy, went to be with her Lord and beloved husband of 68 years, Junior Autry, on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Mrs. Autry was born May 15, 1920, in Jackson County to the late Capers French Hipps and Nannie Garner Lambert Hipps. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Ward and Virginia Young, and two brothers, Devroux and J.B. Hipps, and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians and worked at Glendale Mfg. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Sandra Price, Patsy Biggs and Nancy Thomas (Jerry); four grandsons, David Carver, Jr., Lewis Price, Jr., Sam Biggs II, and Brent Carver; two granddaughters, Christina Belcher and Stacy Wise; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and two step-great-grandchidlren. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, and express their appreciation to the staff at Pisgah Manor for their care and kindness during Mrs. Autry's stay.
