Thomas Bert Hampton

Thomas Bert Hampton, 77, died on October 20, 2014 after a long battle with multiple medical problems. He was the son of the late Carl Tipton Hampton and Irma Sigman Hampton. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth D. Hampton of Newport News, VA, and nephews Thomas D. Hampton of Ashland, VA, and Duane R. Hampton of Mebane, NC. Tom served in the Air Force after high school graduation, and lived in Arizona for many years, and returned to Asheville in 1994. He worked for Ingle's, retiring after fifteen years. Tom was a very caring person, generous with his personal efforts and resources. He was always ready to lend a hand in ways great and small. There will be a memorial service for Tom at Abernethy United Methodist Church on Thursday, October 23rd at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Abernethy United Methodist Church memorial fund, 1418 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC 28806. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
