Clarence H. Payne, Jr.

Clarence Homer Payne, Jr., 83, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Maude Lamb Payne. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Belanger and two brothers, Dewey and Roy Payne. He was a retired tool and die maker. Mr. Payne is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Roberson Payne; two daughters, Vickie McMillan and her husband Robbie, of Charleston, SC and Linda Cole and her husband David of Chattanooga, TN and two grandchildren, Whitney McGuire and Allyson Cole The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. A private family graveside will be held at Shepherd Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or the American Red Cross.
