Thomas J. "Tom" Cook, 83, of died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at his residence. A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Cook was a son of the late Calvin Charles and Ann Young Cook. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Calvin Charles Cook, Jr., Una Cook Maney, and Weaver Cook. Mr. Cook worked with Norfolk Southern Railway for 30 years, retiring as a roundhouse foreman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Valda Rogers Cook; son, Thomas Roger Cook and wife Elizabeth and their daughter, Stephanie Rose Cook; son, Charles Martin Cook; sisters, Rita Bradley, Rose Corbin, and Linda Cook; and brothers, Luke, Frank, and Young Cook. A graveside service for Mr. Cook will be Monday at 12:00 p.m. at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Brown officiating. His family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
