Donald "Speedy" O'Neil Wilson, 66, of Asheville, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Mission Hospital. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late William and Wilma Lou Gossett Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Kay Laws Wilson; daughter, Donessa Wilson; step-daughter, Donna Lunsford and husband Richard; step-son, Don Long; grandchildren, Devin, Donovan, and DeVante Durant; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; sisters, JoAnn Roberts and husband Ted, Cindy Fisher and husband Bryan; and brother Bill Wilson and wife Nancy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charlie Sams and the Rev. Dean Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
