Norma Jean DuVall Murphy, 71, of Leicester, went to be with her Lord Sunday, August 30, 2015. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the Rev. C.J. DuVall and of the late Margaret Hensley DuVall. Ms. Murphy was a graduate of Erwin High School, and she worked as a CNA. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and devoted her life to the care of her father and her brother, Daren. In addition to her father, Ms. Murphy is survived by her daughters, Karen Davis and husband David, and Sharon Brooks; son, Desi Murphy and wife Regina; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and brothers Jerry DuVall and wife Wanda, Allen DuVall and wife Lucy, and Daren DuVall. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Rhinehart officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  12. I was quite shocked to hear about Jean. Not only am I her cousin but I worked with her at Kearfott. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. One thing to remember is that she is not in our past but she is in are future. We will see her again.
