Jerry Ray Murray, 76, of Leicester, died on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at his residence. A native of Asheville, NC, Jerry was a son of the late Hansel Grover and Edna Marlowe Murray. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, JoAnn Ramsey and Grover Murray. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He also worked as a truck driver, farmer, and welder. Jerry is survived by his wife, Gale Ferguson Murray; his children, Jennifer and her husband, Roger Bradley, Leslie and her husband, Travis May, and Jerry Jr., and his wife, Donna Murray; sisters, Barbara Cavanaugh and Darlene Murray; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Jerry will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Newfound Baptist Church. Interment follow in the church's cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
