Lloyd Blandon Burnette, 72, of 41 Dix Creek #1, Leicester, died Friday, November 1, 2002, at Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of Annie Case Burnette of Black Mountain and the late Claude B. Burnette. He was a plumber, a US Army veteran of Korea, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Bertha Scroggs Burnette; a daughter, Nancy Ford and her husband Mark of Leicester; a son, David Burnette and his wife Kathy of Leicester; two sisters, Mary Weaver and her husband Jesse of Black Mountain and Joan Sorrels and her husband Ronnie of Fletcher; four grandchildren, Brandi Burnette, Meredith Burnette, Landon Ford and Clay Ford, all of Leicester. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Harold Savell and Charles Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Don King, Jim Gallimore, Terry Cook, Tom Jones, Ed Sealey and George House. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service and request that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
