Walter Frank “Bud” Robinson, 66, of Rock Hill Ext., died Monday, October 18, 2004. A lifelong resident of Asheville, he was the son of the late Lewis and Christine Moore Robinson. He was a retired employee of Lustar, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a past master of Biltmore Masonic Lodge #446 and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a loving husband and father and the world’s greatest Papaw. He is survived by his wife, Betty Dolen Robinson; his children, Rusty Robinson, wife Debby and their children Chris, Jonathan and Megan Robinson, of Asheville; Debbie Banks, husband Steve and their children Josh Banks and Jodi Wright, of Asheville; his late son, Richard Robinson, who died in 1983, and his daughter Amber Robinson of Franklin; Lisa Pegg, and her children, David Ledford, Ashley and Lindsey Pegg, of Weaverville; Susan Hall, her husband Jeff and their sons Dylan and Tanner Hall, of Asheville; Kim Garren, her husband Steve Messer and their children Amber Buchanan and Stephanie Messer, of Fairview and Erica Robinson of the home. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Trenton Hensley and Chloe Wright; three sisters, Peggy Gilbert and Louise Shipman of Asheville and Daisy Klugler of South Carolina. He also was preceded in death by two sisters Bobbie Kittrell and Judy Grider. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Reverend Cecil Robinson. Interment will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Biltmore Masonic Lodge #446. The lodge will open at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

  4. I worked with Bud for many years at Lustar. He was a very good man. Sorry to hear of his passing. He will surely be missed by many people. May God bring comfort and mercy to your soul. I talked with Betty many times on the phone and Bud many times in person. (Insurance) I will think of you in my prayers. And never forget his smile and how much he loved his grandkids.
