Charles E. Bennett, Jr.,"Chuck", 84, of Asheville, stopped breathing and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr. and Mae Bennett, also by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Peter Van Der Linden and Evelyn and Bill Bright, and two special great nieces, Karlee Shinbrood and Melanie Arnold.
He has been a lifetime member of the Christian Church and is currently a member of Swannanoa Christian Church. He served as a deacon in his church in Illinois and has been faithful through the years to his God by serving others.
Charles leaves his wife of 48 years, Anna Arnold Bennett; special sister-in-law, Betty Barrier and many nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Tunnel Road Chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Pastor Jeffrey Maynard will officiate and burial will follow in Cane Creek Cemetery in Fairview.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
