Joan Maxine Haney Howard, 71, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the CarePartners Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, Joan was a daughter of the late Frazier John and Lura Lavada Haney. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Grady Howard, Jr.; sister, Margaret Ann and brother, Monroe. She was a longtime member of Luther Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing ball and enjoying meals with her Miami Restaurant family. Mrs. Howard is survived by her children, David Howard (Sabrina), Tracy Reagan (Kevin), Alan Howard (Deitra), and Tina Lunsford; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Calvin and sisters, Mary, Lois and Debbie. The funeral service for Mrs. Howard will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Avenue with the Revs. Annette Howard, and Betty Drake officiating. Interment will follow at Brown's View United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home and at other times will be at Tracy and Kevin's home.     Mammaw Joan will truly be missed by all that knew her. She was a constant in many peoples lives and one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I am so sorry I was out of town when her services were held. The Dawson family will always remember her fondly. Our prayers go out to you and all the Howard family.
