Arden – Robert E. "Bob" Taylor, 89, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016.
A native of Buncombe County, he grew up in Lexington, NC with his brothers and sisters at the Junior Order United American Mechanics Home. He was a son of the late James and Daisy Bell Jenkins Taylor and was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Stewart and three brothers, Johnny Taylor, Thomas Corn and Ronald Corn.
Bob was a charter member of Long Shoals Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School director. He was a retired forty year employee of Olin Manufacturing and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beulah Layman Taylor; a son, Robert H. Taylor of Arden; four sisters, Mary Nash, Helen Massey, Dorothy Ann Morgan, Donnie Grindstaff; two brothers, David Taylor and James Taylor, sisters-in-law, Virginia Layman Fisher and Pam Atkins Layman as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Revs. Roger Rearden, Timothy Brown and Jim Ritchey. Interment will follow in Calvary Churchyard. Deacons of Long Shoals Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 Wednesday evening at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road.

Bobby and Beulah, I’m so sorry to hear this news. The three of you were always wonderful friends and neighbors, and I always remember coming over for visits when Dana was taking ceramics classes.
