Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I knew Cal over the last 30 years or so. We shared a lot of memories of our lives and about our times at Wheeling High School. Many may not remember that Cal was the drum major in the marching band at WHS.

Cal even dedicated time to helping me with the WHS alumni website by scanning in all the Class of 1972 senior pictures.

Cal you will be deeply missed and you were loved by so many. Thank you for your service to our country in the US Marine Corps. Semper Fi!

  2. So very, very sorry to hear this….I was a Wheeling HS student and total band geek with Cal……He will be missed. Prayers to the Chaney family…

  3. I worked with Cal since he started with Thermo Scientific in Dubuque, IA. He was a great guy! He had a great sense of humor and he was super helpful. He will be missed!! My deepest sympathies

  4. I worked with Cal when he was in Dubuque and always enjoyed talking Chemistry with him. His passion for his job was obvious. Even when he moved to NC, he was always available to advise and lend a hand. Sending prayers to his family for peace during this hard time.

  5. My family and I are grieving the loss of our brother in CHRIST. However we all can take comfort in knowing that GOD is in control of all things, and Brother Cal is in HIS presence and happier than he has ever been. We will miss you Cal until we see you again. Our prayers to Cal’s family for GOD’s grace and peace upon you.

  6. Dr Cal was such a dear brother in Christ! He was an encourager. We cried when we heard because we would miss him, but we were SO EXCITED for him for his promotion to the presence of the LORD! He will be greatly missed.

  7. I work at Thermo Fisher Scientific and met Cal through work. I soon learned that he was always willing to help where he could and became a cherished friend.
I am so very sorry to hear of his passing. Please know that his family and friends are in my prayers.

  8. Loretta and family,

My sympathies on the loss of your brother. My thoughts are with you all, as I remember Dale, too.

  9. My husband and I work at Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Dr. Cal is one of our best customer and a friend at Thermo Fisher Scientific. He is the most caring and loving person and a very smart guy. He will be truly missed. We are very sad to hear about his passing but we know he is in a great place now.

    Rest In peace Dr. Cal

  11. We’ve known Cal for several years and have been shaken with news of his death. He was a kind and sweet man to all who asked for help. He also supplied chocolates when needed!!! We will miss his presence in our lives. God bless your family.

  12. Cal was a good friend since 1973 at NIU, he stood up for me at my wedding, we drove down to Alabama together and he was the only one to drive my corvette besides myself. He visited us over the years and would ask advice about his car and new home as his life progressed.I enjoyed meeting his \CATS\’ too.We were blessed when he came to visit about 3 weeks ago got a chance to see him one more time.Rest in peace!

  13. I am so sorry for your loss. I wanted to leave your family a comforting scripture during this time. Revelation 21:4- ‘And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.’

  14. Cal was a great guy! I taught at Wheeling where he was so instrumental in the music program! Rest In Peace!

  15. Dear Chany family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept my sincere sympathies. The death of a loved one is such a challenging time for the entire family. I hope that you can find some comfort in God’s Word the Bible. Acts 24:15 says, ‘I have hope toward God…that there is going to be a resurrection…’ Here the Bible is assuring us that in the near future we have the hope of being reunited with our loved ones we have lost in death. May this promise be a comfort to you during this difficult time.
