Edward Caruso, 83, of Fletcher, died Monday, December 6, 2004 at an area hospital.
Mr. Caruso was born in Bronx, NY and was a son of the late Assunta Cerasoli and Dominico Caruso. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Caruso and two brothers, Daniel Caruso and Val Caruso.
Mr. Caruso is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Onorato Caruso; one daughter, Marjorie Ann Caruso of Manhattan, NY; one son, Robert Edward Caruso and his fiancée, Michelle O’Brien of Arden; two grandchildren, Shelby Ann Caruso and Molly Leigh Caruso, both of Arden; nieces, Valerie Vitolo and her husband, Gerry, Goddaughter, Maureen Caruso, Barbara Caruso, Catherine Caruso and Nancy Caruso; and nephew and Godson, Daniel Caruso, all of New York, NY.
Mr. Caruso served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Washington. His ship fought in the Pacific and was responsible for sinking the first Japanese battleship.
Mr. Caruso owned Pepper’s Gourmet Restaurant in New York, NY and also worked as the Head Bartender at the New York Hilton and at Schraffts. He was a member of VFW, Post # 5206 in Hendersonville and was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hendersonville.
A private memorial service will be held for family and invited friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VFW, Post # 5206, 900 North Main St., Hendersonville, 28792, or to the Oncology Dept. or ICU at Pardee Hospital, 715 Fleming St., Hendersonville, 28791.

We loved his personality, to hear him tell of his fascinating career.
His personality was magnetic. It’s easy to understand why one would want to tell his troubles to Ed or share a joke with him. We shall miss him. A wonderful neighbor.
Mr. C was a cool person, I lived next door to him in Queens, his whole family was top notch. I went to the same HS that Marjorie went to…Hard worker and a nice guy….RIP buddy
