James Eugene "Gene" Creasman, 94, of Arden, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his home. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Jesse and Florence Spain Creasman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jean Creasman, as well as one sister and one brother. Gene was a graduate of Valley Springs High School and a WWII Veteran, having served in the US Navy. He is survived by his loving companion, Hazel Lance; one daughter, Terri Israel (Thomas) of Mills River; three sons, Mark Creasman (Brenda) of Brevard, Bart Creasman of Arden and Dennis Creasman of Arden; two sisters, Peggy Swicegood of Arden and Evelyn Butler of Columbus, as well as six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 3 at Shepherd Memorial Park. Flowers are appreciated, but for those who choose, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's own choice. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

    I will always remember playing little league baseball with Bart and Gene being our coach and Dennis being there to help. He taught us a lot about baseball which helped me in life to do good and for that I will always remember him. God Bless each of the family members.

  5. So sorry to hear this news. Gene was a friend of mine and I have lots of good memories going back to the forties and fifties he used to watch me play football for oakley with my father. I also worked with him at buncombe county msintenence. He will be missed.

  8. Tommy and Family. So sorry to hear about Gene’s passing. I remember many funny as well as fearful stories of when we all worked at CTS 1000 years ago. The last time I saw gene was at the CTS reunion about 1998 or so. Condolences to the extended family.
